Transport Canada has announced new rules governing the use and operation of drones which come into effect on June 1/19.
• These are the current rules that are in effect until June 1/19 and here are the new rules which kick in on June 1/19.
CBC (Thunder Bay) interviewed a local photographer about the upcoming rule changes and the impact they'll have on his business.

• Department launches test trials of technology for surveillance in Northern Canada:
...has granted the UAS Centre of Excellence approval to begin operations at their test range in Alma, QC. This test range facilitates research and development and provides the industry with dedicated, restricted airspace where they can test drones beyond visual line-of-sight.

• Interim Order Respecting the Use of Model Aircraft.
• New safety rules for recreational drone use take immediate effect:
Transport Canada announced an immediate measure which will affect the operations of model aircraft and recreational drones of more than 250 g and up to 35 kg.
